Slavery

Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

I was thinking of something kind of along these lines. Maybe it should go in a different thread tho.
Basically, it seems to me like imprisonment would now be a possibility. (not slavery per se).
Why imprison? It only leaves a battery scent, not a murder scent, so it will dissapear more quickly. The person imprisoned has a couple of options:
1) Ransom their character
2) have friends or alts rescue their character
3) inherit from their character, and start a new one based on the old ones stats.

So they would not be knocked out of play, it would be more of a near-death situation where difficult choices would have to be made. Of course, imprisoning someone would still leave summonable clues, so it would not be something done lightly...

I probably am missing a large exploit hole here, who wants to point it out first? Also, I will move it to its own thread if you guys think that would be more appropriate.

This is probably the worst idea I've seen in a long time.

Mine, or the OP?
imprisonment has been suggested and shot down before, and at that point I agreed. With the ancestor worship addition, I dont see how it is so bad now. If you are at the point you could be imprisoned, you are also at the point you would be killed if there were no imprisonment option, so it improves survivablity and adds an interesting factor where people can be ransomed/rescued.

If my post was not clear enough, the imprisoned player would not do anything. That would obviously lead to abuse, as potjeh pointed out.

Maybe I should make my own thread on this. Anyway, I see why the OP would not work, but if you are commenting on my slight revision to the OP post, at least have the courtesy to say why it is a bad idea.

This.
Wouldn't want it implemented even if it wouldn't be a complete nightmare to program.

You know, I remember Jorb making a post a long time ago stating he liked the idea of being able to make other characters for reasons such as this. So they have given the imprisonment idea some thought atleast.

As soon as someone is enslaved, their skin becomes the color of mud and they have an insatiable desire for chicken and watermelon.

You know, even for the internet that was pretty offensive... I've seen worse, but that's pretty bad.
Surprise.

Not really. It was more stereotypical than anything.

I actually believe imprisonment could work fairly well. Not too sure about enslavement, but I have considered that to at some length.
