I'm glad to hear that but maybe a Dev should comment my idea.

I can't speak for the devs but they have hinted they will make barrels able to store seeds, so I assume they acknowledge inventory and item storage issues. I currently have multiple cupboards filled with leeches so your idea seems pretty good, I would definitely make jars for my leeches whether they would be glass or clay jars.

Why not extend it to all other "bugs", like moths and whatnot?

From haven-res.jar, it's probably 4 years old, devs have thought about this before.
