So... what exactly is a magically conjured loaf of plain bread an abstraction of?

I would not mind more superstitious frivolity, old wives tales, nonsensical home-cures... Like putting a plank of oakwood in your bed to transfer your injuries into the wood, (turning it into a curio?) Or... ... actually thats the only one I can recall. The dowsing rod is a clearer example.
