From that link, it appears they are taking finished leather and using boiling as an extra process to harden it. I realize that the OP suggests using boiling to decrease the time involved, but I was suggesting adding boiling as an extra third step to create armor-ready leather, not using boiling to decrease the total crafting time.

well origonally I skimmed through that article and didn't know boiled leather was harder, but now that it's apparent, that could be an added element. Having to make moulds to make leather armor would be cool
