You realize that the entire point of the defense bar is to stop attacks from hurting you, right? Why would you want to make it virtually useless?
I was in the Northern Army once and you can never take that from me

I believe combats will became much shorter and more intensive.
And together with scents' bonus idea. If you did something bad you will think twice if to battle vs ranger or not :D

It's already pretty short as it is, not to mention one-hit KO->kill should not be used as a mechanics in a perma-death environment in a game where you actually want meaningful characters.

And I already outlined how griefers can take advantage of your system much better than genuine rangers in that thread.

Actually the battle won't be one hit :) where did you get it? :)
And also tbh I'm not sure that battle will be shorter (I'm just guessing), but definately intensive. If the defense is broken, and some shp was lost, with some heal skill he can go away and recover some SHP. But the battle won't be going forever. Because with each successful hit the defender looses HHP.

The bonuses can be provided only with summonable scents. If the ranger only trespassed, his scents left doesn't provide the carrier with such bonuses. And if the ranger kills the perpetrator while carrying summonable scents, he (the ranger) leaves the scents with do not provides the carrier with any bonuses.

Getting hit without a defense bar almost means that you will not be walking away from this fight, alive. With defense, getting hit that doesn't kill you still mean that the battle is swaying towards the attacker's favor as you are left with no defense and a point of advantage towards the one that hits you. This is assuming that you are even fighting a 1 on 1 which is not likely meaning that someone else could strike you while you are defenseless (if you are fighting 1 v 1 though, you still have time to recover before you get chopped). This is due to the fact that damage scales faster than HP, especially with a B12.

I would like to request that if you want to talk about your scent mechanics suggestion, please do so at that thread.
