And also tbh I'm not sure that battle will be shorter (I'm just guessing), but definately intensive. If the defense is broken, and some shp was lost, with some heal skill he can go away and recover some SHP. But the battle won't be going forever. Because with each successful hit the defender looses HHP.

The bonuses can be provided only with summonable scents. If the ranger only trespassed, his scents left doesn't provide the carrier with such bonuses. And if the ranger kills the perpetrator while carrying summonable scents, he (the ranger) leaves the scents with do not provides the carrier with any bonuses.
