I watched a show a wys back to where I believe it was the romans preserved bread for years, clearly it would become hard but still ediable. The only problem with this is what about butter and milk? Cheese really cant go bad if left in a cellar because in the old days you just cut off the mold and ate under it. And what about sausages? There is a ham that because it is salted so heavily can sit out unfridgerated for i think up to ten years with out going bad. This would need to have meat hooks implemented for this.

But food kept in a cellar should degrade slower then that left in a cabin and defentily slower then left outside. In caves and mines id say should be about the same as a cellar.
