I thought a small addition that will make it so that music benefited.
Make it so that some pre-written melodies do some action. I mean, to create a specific list of melodie, and give the action of each.
For example, it would be nice to make definite flute melody to put wild animals to sleep (lullaby?). For example a peaceful and harmless traveler (bard?) may sleep a bear, which prevents him go, just for a few seconds, it is enough to leave. But if you try to attack the bear, that he immediately wakes up. Looks like a spell "freezing", but without any magic.
Or, for example, the melody for the rest. In the sense that if within earshot there are other people, their stamina is replenished a little faster, which in turn increases productivity. With good music even work becomes pleasant.
Or music can increase the effects of therapeutic action, accelerating the healing of HPP or increasing the number obtained HPP. Surely everyone knows that classical music is sometimes recommend to patients.
And of course, different tools must perform different functions. For the wild forest is likely to be more appropriate flute, in urban taverns, mines, lumber-camps more appropriate lutes, drums fit for military craft, such as offensive to give a bonus to those who are in the same party with the drummer.
Speaking of bards. It would be good to so-called "Bard" could play in makeshift taverns (pre-written melody again) to give the audience some positive bonus, such as "glass with a friend", but with other name and given bonus of course.
Now the question is, where people acquired skills of writing the music will take the first, for example, written notes of a lullaby? I propose to do to write notes in the form of mini games where you have to choose appropriate music, or repeat the sequence of notes, which will be added each time after a successful replication. If it successful, the "composer" gets one sheet of paper with this melody. There is a good idea to make that the player can remember the melody and not wear them with, but sometimes get out of the chest and repeat. Make system of "remembering and forgetting."

I could try, if I have a so-called "inspiration", Lol, but it needs to draw up a specific list of tunes that are needed. The number of them, length, style, purpose of the melody, and so on.
