No, no, why not nail your enemy himself to his door while he is still living!

and on that note they should add dead babies

Better yet, why not carve the message into your still-living enemy and nail him to the door by his tongue?

Notice Board

An A-frame style Notice Board object that simply acts as a special container for notes. People can put notes in and take notes out (if they have rights). Anyone (regardless of skills) can right-click a noticeboard and then right-click any of the notes to read them (IE: Without requiring theft). Only the claim owner can remove notes without theft.

Anyone can put new notes in though (assuming there's room). When they do, the noticeboard gets a little red flag sticking up from it. Only the claim owner can right-click the noticeboard and click the "Reset Flag" button that appears.

    Capacity to hold 20 notes.

Signpost

Because street signs would be cool. Simple object much like a Crossroads, only slightly different looking. Once built, you can right-click and enter a label. Once done, any further right-clicking simply displays the lavel. The only way to remove the label is to destroy and rebuild the signpost.

Pin Notes to Door

Nail (made out of a nugget of any metal). Left-clicking a note in your inventory and then right-clicking a door will (provided you have one) use the nail and pin the note to the door. Without a nail, it displays a message "You need a nail to pin notes to doors". The door art would obviously need to change to show a note has been pinned there. Right-clicking the door will then, by default, result in the user reading the note.

An option to "Remove Note" appears when they're reading a note. They HAVE to remove the note before they can right-click and enter the house as normal. Guaranteed note reading.

Theft is not required to place notes but is require to remove notes, unless you are the claim owner.

ThirdEmperor, the original discussion of this topic was leaving notes and messages, until you people come and derail the thread with your ideas of nailing people to doors. So in this case, you sir are the n00b. :P

Sorry, my bad. How's this:

Large Wooden Cross

That we can nail people to. Oh and if we nail someone to the cross alive and leave them there long enough that they starve to death, they can get resurrected 3 days later provided their corpse is moved to cave for those 3 days.

I like the idea of posting notes to doors or a message board but I don't really like the requirement of metal as almost every player I've met is from a small village that lacks metal. It's kinda stupid or less realistic but perhaps glue as an alternative to nails as everyone can kill ten chickens or rabbits to get the bones and make some glue. Maybe glue only lasts a few real life days while nails last a long time or forever.

Nails in construction sounds fine as long as they aren't needed for palisades.

Nailing a living thing to a construction sounds crazy however butchering a dead animal or hearthling and displaying their skull as a trophy sounds like it could be impressive and convey that your tribe is not friendly.

I recall lobbying for a mailbox object waaaay back in the day and I still think it's a good idea. Something that's simply an obviously dedicated 'leave note here' object (instead of requiring a container, a runestone, and being off-claim) would be sufficient and anything else is gravy.

And for God's sakes, don't make the basic functionality cost metal.

Only if you can put corpses in the mailbox.
