Nonetheless, don't you think it's an unecessary barrier to usability? If the minimap were turned 45 degrees to the right and had a tiny north marker added, the interface instantly becomes more intuitive. I searched for 'minimap orientation' because my girlfriend can't handle the disconnect between the two. Strikes me as something that could be costing quite a few female players, being that they tend, on average, to have somewhat less developed spatial awareness and being that tiny usability barriers cost games more players than any number of glaring bugs ever do (not that I can provide you with a link to any evidence for that sorry, I've completely forgotten where I found it, and in fact it might not even be trustworthy, however I think it's safe to say that usability barriers certainly aren't adding any players, no matter how insignificant those barriers might be).

I guess the question is, is there any actual need for the minimap to be oriented so that 'up' is 'north'? Especially considering that the play window is not, due to the isometric nature of the game?
