Bricks are hard as hell to get nowadays, I spent two days building a kiln and firing up some bricks for a oven, only got halfway, clay is easier to aquire but still decently rare, and straw is most certainly a high level material. But for the record, those "mud" houses?

They're made out of shit.

Cow pies are natures frisbies.

They also should be a good insulator.

lol... well, forgive my pedantry, but a house made out of mud would be a mud house (like in Soutwestern US). A house made out of shit would be a shit house (like in most of subsaharan africa and central asia). I'm all for implementing shithouses, they'd just have to put in a new "dung" object, and i'm pretty sure most hearthlings with livestock would groan at having to clean their stables. There's probably a ton of threads about using livestock dung for building bricks and fueling ovens. (and playing frisbee)

What if "dung" were an object like milk or sheepswool that you could "harvest" whenever you wanted?

And getting back to the OP, if you had straw and dung as a new pathway for brick making, it would go a long ways towards redressing the massive new restriction on clay availability.

And i am shocked... SHOCKED! ... that no one has yet made a commodores reference in this thread...

Yeh, being able to make dung/straw bricks would be great for getting rid of that excess straw. How about a tent? Made either out of linen or leather?

I like that idea. Sorta like a tent/tepee thing, halfway between a leanto and a proper house. I'd imagine it like a four -or more- item holding lean-to, rather than a building you could actually enter (cabins are small enough IMO) My initial guess at materials for a tent would be six wood blocks and twenty pieces of linen or leather? At any rate, I like the fundimental idea of introducing a greater variety of housing/shelter options that use a greater range of materials. Perhaps tepees and mud-brick huts don't fit in too perfectly with the whole nordic/hyborean theme, but the devs can play with the artwork to make it look proper :)

*You are reffering to a Lap cot, which is basically a bunch of logs bound together at the top, spread out and dressed with hides (nowadays cloth). I'd say that those wouldn't really fit the lore.. but that's my personal opinion as a samish :p

And they differ in size i might add, a regular one could hold ten people in it with a cozy fire in the middle for warmth. I've lived in those for up to 30 people when being in the swedish mountains.
