Another way to make animals more dangerous would be to have them deal a larger amount of HHP damage on knock-out. If the bear knocks you down a couple of times, your life would be in danger....

That and the knowledge that jorb's a lovecraftian fan, last thing we know we'll end up with mind-controlling leeches and deep ones doing the nasty with the rusalka.
