Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

It has been made clear several times that nobody (that includes the devs) wants a strict and personalized (montheistic or polytheistic) religion. Something shamanic or the like might be in reach.
Safe havens have been suggested several times as well, but since there never was any reaction by loftorb I guess they are not too fond of this idea either. One of the fundamental game ideas is that you won't be completely safe anywhere unless logged out without any criminal history.

Essentially I don't want to tell you what you believe.

The reason I picked "religion" was because I was trying to come up with a creative solution to make smaller/new villages a little safer, because currently living alone appears to be a safer way to conserve your character(unless you're one of the top players..).

There is no need to be shallow-minded about the concept of safe havens, so in respect to the tension against religion/buffs and game fundamentals, i'll change the direction completely.
- Earlier suggested (guard)dogs, which only attack other players when a crime was done against you.
- Stone or concrete walls.
Anything that slows raiders down should do.

Who ever said you should be safe? It's supposed to be hard to get started, that's the point.

I'm sorry but this game is the best I've played in a long time, and religion ingame would completely ruin it for me and most people I know. That kind of crap needs to stay in real life and not infect games (on both sides that is, what I mean mostly is the whole religion vs non religion stuff).

The ancestor deal is pretty cool and I'd even accept some dieties related to the games lore, but that's about it man, not no "Derp I'm rolling christian!"

Just as a small comment on that, we have considered adding local, primitive deities to the map (when it is generated, that is), like river guardians or holy trees, which could be worshipped in a way very similar to that of the ancestors. Many characters actively worshipping the same deity would probably make it more powerful, and they would grant a set of prayers different from those to the ancestors.

Wow, sounds cool. Yet another localised resource =). Definately interesting though. Wonder what the prayers would be?

Interesting, if each one varied a bit this would make ideal locations a lot harder to search for.
