Works for inter-village communication, but bulletin boards would have more uses.

One reason this has come up several times is because it is a good idea.

forums are bulliten boards. If there are people you want inside your communication system then you can them under various groups and use permission settings for groups to determine who has access to what forums. Forums are bulliten boards.

I think what the OP is desiring here is some sort of in game notification upon log in system. If you have to check something then other than multiline text there is nothign about the proposal that doesn't already exist as Jackard has detailed.then there is the issue of delivery and who should or shouldn't recieve information.

....which brings us back to the extensive functionality of forums with permission & etc.

I suppose a people might not want to be subject to the integrity of whatever admin hosts the board in question. In which case, intervillage communication would likely rely on H&H forum PM's. I don't see how an in game system of intervillage messaging would be any more conveninet unless....*gasp* it were somehow tied to forum PM's by notifying one of having something in their mailbox.

Honestly...I think that's what we really need. In game notification of Forum PM's.

Dunno, I can see it being handy for post-its. Stuff like putting signs next to smelters to specify their quality, or putting up a silkworm feeding schedule next to the silk hut so you don't have to go inside and check all the tables and cupboards. Obviously, nothing sensitive would be put on those, but a thief could still get some useful insight into the daily going-ons of a settlement. Well, not sure it'd be much useful, but it would certainly be fun.

Key rings aren't a bad idea. Keys are.

Keys are a great idea, simply because of the fact that they can be stolen. Without keyrings, however, yes, a pain in the ass.

And no, a physical board which you right-click on in-game and see text relevant to your interests would be a nice thing.

Notice Board

Postby Zack0Wack0 » Wed Mar 31, 2010 5:31 pm

Something carpenters can build. It would need ~8 planks and ~2 blocks. It would allow anyone to post public notes.
Examples of uses:
- "Someone take my sprouted tree off of my herb table by x:xx please."
- "SOMEONE NEEDS TO GO FISHING IM STARVING"
- "THERES A BEAR IN THE VILLAGE WHY ARE YOU READING THE NOTICEBOARD"
- "Guys I went exploring and found some seeds, they're in my cupboards if you want them!"

This is spooky, I was just discussing a variant of this on a different thread.

Also, I think the examples were a bit unnecessary ;)

By the way, I second this idea. Though it should also require bark (to stick pins into) and reusable metal or possibly bone pins.
