This again? :|

LimaZulu wrote:And yeah, Grelf, I'm going to reference the the loosely, because it's what the Devs said, so it's what they meant. Don't bullshit me on this.

What the devs said? Are you blind?

loftar wrote:As for the original poster; the game is supposed to be set in a predominantly European setting, so it would be quite weird with non-European races running around. Even if it were a generic setting, however, Jorb and I are white, and I think that is reason quite enough for us to keep the characters white. (Obviously, the setting was not chosen on a complete whim.)

Congratulations to your people. It doesn't logically follow that the game has to be purely about your precious ancestry.

@ Grelf: Loftar disagrees with me, but it says on the About page of this very website that it is loosely based, and that the game takes place in a fictional world. And yes, I think if you're going to bullshit me about regional appropriateness, you'll rally against some of the most perverse delineations from history and culture that actually exist in the game.

again, I'd be happy just to see a little diversity there. Nordic peoples were not alone out there. Asiatic, Arabic and several other cultures were prevalent throughout the history of most of Europe, peoples such as the Bass, fisherman that traveled along the Atlantic seaways, frequently traveled through the region and were of dark hair and skin tones like those of Italians, and Spaniards. They have been known to travel these sea ways since neolthic times. Mongols, people from the Steppes of Asia were not unheard of and were frequently found traveling and raiding village throughout places as far as Moscow.

That's a better argument, and some variation to a certain degree may be alright. But you could pass for any of those with the skin tone used in the game either way.

Sure, if they get their own unique equipment that sets them apart. If I see a Tatar in H&H, he better be riding a horse and shooting a composite bow.

possibly, things like hair color and growth patterns are not as easy, personally I'd love to see new hair color and styles added to the game. As we have no eyes it does make it a tad easier to say you're from X culture and just roll with it.
