In this thread, often someone say that swimming don't need a fix, it's all noobs fault if they die stupidly.

My only comment is that, if i buy Lumberjacking, i can chop down trees. If i buy Swim, i can't swim neither a tile.
Something not work obviusly.

Maibe swim should cost more lp? Or maibe should have a check of the chara strenght, before allow you to buy it? If the meaning is that "A normal people, also when dunno how to swim, can drow" then Why we can't drown also without the skill? I need to KNOW HOW TO SWIM to DROWN? Is a contradiction.

So, Swim NEED a fix. And this fix could be the Strengh Check, that let you buy it, or more lp request.

And i think that swim is a priority, because if i lost a house for a bug, i can rebuilt it esasily. If i lost a chara for a bug, it is quite BAD.

If someone wanna kill his chara, is enough add a push on the chara selection menù. "Delete Chara".

Ask for that push, and ask for Swim fix. Do not ask for let swim bugged.

As chak said to me: "Swimming is not deadly enough, add sharks that attack newbs on their boats." This is not enough hardcore survival we have here, make this game more difficult for more delicious tears.

i would rather tend to say: "let the rivers look more dangerous"
this would help more than any change in swimming ;)

Whilst trying to stay in line with the topic, I agree with Flame. That is, Swimming should only unlock once a certain lvl of con is reached (50 base maybe). If for no other argument, noobs should have reached sufficient experience by then to understand the dangers, and if not, at least it should go a long way to reducing noob accidental suicides.

Somewhat off-topic, but in key with what Flame eluded to and something I posted last year sometime, but can't find: I would enjoy that some items can not simply be used by any character. There are probably far too few different items to use this atm, but I would love to see (as a very rough exampe) that B12 axes requirs a certain level str and maybe even melee before you can wield them, or that a ranger's bow needs a certain level of dex and mm etc etc

Lampreys, perhaps.
Wikipedia wrote:...one of his slaves had broken a crystal cup. Vedius ordered him to be seized and then put to death, but in an unusual way. He ordered him to be thrown to the huge lampreys which he had in his fish pond. Who would not think he did this for display? Yet it was out of cruelty. The boy slipped from the captor’s hands and fled to Caesar’s feet asking nothing else other than a different way to die — he did not want to be eaten. Caesar was moved by the novelty of the cruelty and ordered him to be released, all the crystal cups to be broken before his eyes, and the fish pond to be filled in... – Seneca, On Anger, III, 40

Though I doubt they'd attack in the wild.

Drowned without even learning swimming skill

Postby fezzi » Wed Nov 10, 2010 6:09 pm

I exited a raft and found my self in the water for about 1.5 seconds before dying... I was just wondering if there is anything that can be done like my attributes refunded or something? Or do I just have to deal with it and its my bad luck?

Strange. It allowed you to exit the raft while in deep water?
