No, you just need to get your constitution up to at least 120 before you try. (don't forget to wear a ring when swimming)

Why did i die instanty while swimming, I had 70 percent stamina. I need my character back!

Your swiming skills are dependent on your constitution. Unless your Con is really high don't even buy swiming.
Your character died and you can't have it back, you can make an ancestor and inherit some of lp though.

Never buy swimming if your constitution isn't AT LEAST 100 and even then don't use it until you are 200. Yes that is a big number but it is generally best not to risk a character.
