Yeah, that's sensible. The multiple entrances never seem to be horribly far apart, usually just a few minimaps on the outside world.

One of ours has three entrances, two mines inside. Imagine how much trouble it is to defend.

Create an alt with Yeomanry and use his stake right in front of the entrances you want to block. They don't decay and are not destroyable. If they want it gone, they will have to build a village idol and remove it. That is, of course, assuming that you don't wish to use the other entrances yourself either.

Hold on, you mean caves can, and have in some cases, multiple entrances.
Cool. Did not know that.

Yeah, I have found several caves with at least two entrances; I read someone found one with three elsewhere on here. I don't know how high it can go, though.

I mapped this one cave (with microsoft paintbrush), 5 entrances, spreading across a few local grids:

Could you imagine the disappointment, when I realized there was no mine in that entire beast?

Even had huge rooms that were over 50 tiles wide and 200 tiles long (denoted by those large ovals) -- yeah, this image isn't to-scale, but hopefully you get my point.

Big cave is VERY big -- never saw one this big in my life, may never see one again. I wonder what the mapgen did to spit out this beast.
