I think your post was pretty straightforward, but then the subject ended up shifting. It would indeed be nice to be able to use ancestral worship with full change, even if it meant getting a completely insignificant amount of numen points. Just something that you could build up over time... That's what we've gotta do with LP. It would take forever to get 20,000 LP for trespassing (I think that was the amount) with the default learning ability. People can very clearly see that 3x LP = I NEED THAT RIGHT NOW. When you're a new character, you won't exactly have yarn or a chantrelle & onion pirozhki to sacrifice to your ancestors for the sake of trying the feature out... plus the feature is sort of out of the way, unlike LP, which you see increase with just about every action you do.

Indeed. There's a game called Space Station 13 where you'll only live for around an hour tops. The characters don't even get stats or anything else to really get attached to. You simply play for the sake of having fun and the round will usually end within 30-60 minutes due to some space disaster or mass slaughter.
This kind of change would probably be way too great of a change for Haven & Hearth, though. That is to say it would completely change the gameplay, probably a huge increase in crime unless we were given something new to replace those hours of being a farming hermit who just feasts and boosts skills. As I recall someone saying before, many of us are having an arms race against an invisible enemy. The enemy would probably become very real if we didn't have to risk so much.
