Two reasons why change is better:
Change comes free, while tradition the currently worse off one costs multiple times as much as change, so everyone naturally gets change.
The rewards for change greatly outweigh the rewards for tradition, It has to do with death not being common, and the amount of LP gained at full tradition is just so stupidly low.
I've never heard someone talk of getting full tradition and continue gaining skills, it just isn't worth the effort.

I went full tradition and have continued to buy skills as they become available and raise my incremental skills as they become available. You're right in that it's very slow, but it's not like I'm in a hurry or racing against anyone. Slow pace is one of the games strong points for me

I think that it would already help a lot if the slider did not change to change every time you move another sliders, currently people just get forced into change. Also it would be possible to reduce the benifits/penalties from 1/3 and 3 times the LP to 1/2 and 2 times the LP for full tradition/change.

It accumulates time logged in, not time spent offline.
