Also have it be able to take alt vault items if the alt has no HF, similar in a way that perps can be summoned anywhere if they have no HF.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

Problem
Thief creates alt to do the actual theft.
That alt does his bidding, transfers stolen objects to a handfull of packmule alts (who are his his village), builds HF in wilderness and awaits termination.
Packmules build HFs in wilderness too, port to their village, logout there and wait till scents have expired.

Surely you can track and summon the thieving alt, but it is recreated with ease within a short timespan for cheap.

Stolen goods are unaccessible, and no way to find out to which village the packmules belong to (since you can only track the 'stolen object' to the HFs somewhere in the void).
You have no possibility to access them in any way, no way to retaliate.

When scents are expired the alts simply login at their village, build a new HF and the cycle starts again.

Solution
Enable theft scent to summon toon holding 'stolen object' in inventory or equipped.
Same mechanic as with original perpetuator.
This way thiefs at least need to protect their packmule alts HFs.

Next Problem
We then need a way to find out if an item is tainted, so you don't obtain summonable items by accident.

Solution
Enable user to right-click a beautiful dream on objects, in case it's trackable (=scent for it exists) the dream turns into a horrible nightmare (same as dream, but red and different text).

Or make it so the items stolen by the thief cannot be given to anyone else untill scents have disspeared.

Like if he puts it in a container no one else but the thf can take it. Something like that.

This wouldn't really solve the problem, It would make it so alts can create unstealable items. I think the Item summonable idea would be better.

Sorry to necro this thread but I want to clear something up with this thread. Summoning stolen items at a hearthfire is a great idea but it can be abuseable, you could purposely make a alt to steal from yourself then trade the item to some poor bloke. Once the deal is done a day later you could summon the item back at your alts hearthfire with your main. Thus expoitable.

The only way that this problem can be fixed at all is if "tainted items" with theft scents are dropped. Not all items dropped on logout just stolen items. Until the scent is gone the item should not be able to be locked away in a strongbox or on any character upon logout. The item should also have an indicator that it has been stolen so if someone trys to trade it off before the scent has expired the person recieving the item would know the item is tainted and thus not do the deal.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

uh dude, obviously they would flag stolen items as such or have them detectable in some way, thats kind of needed to make the system work

youre inventing problems

The idea of hearthfire summoning and item dropping on logout are seperate ideas that is why they there is a space inbetween. In your post you warped the ideas into one then took it out of context and used it against me. That is also called trolling.
