I thought this was what you meant when I just read the first post: http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/764/fogofwar.jpg with just being able to see everything that is in line of sight to your character, everything else is black.

But then I read through the whole thread and realized it wasn't :L

Unless the FoW was serverside, you could just edit it out of the client.

well of course it would have to be serverside (if such a thing was even possible)
