Maybe the distance of the projectile should depend on your strength with some kind of cap so players with 1000+ STR don't just fire off stray arrows for kicks.

Because of this, the system that you proposed would mean that you would shoot your friends instead of the people that you actually want to kill. Plus, if the movement of your cursor manipulated the direction that you aimed at, one slight movement of your hands could bump your mouse and make you aim at a different target. This causes needless extra stress during a high-stakes combat scenario, where there will be nervous movements of the hands.

With all this wall talk, if you could aim up or down, you'd aim down in this case to shoot the target's feet. Otherwise, sure, you'd have to take the risk of hitting your comrades. Maybe next time you'll surround the target with swords instead of bows.

I like this idea. Click+wait isn't even gameplay at all. Close range combat is far more interesting since you have to be involved and on the ball.

I like the original idea. It would open up all kinds of new gameplay options. There could be long range archery contests, for instance.
