There actually is, let us break down things we've built easier than others can destroy them.

Would that imply everything that can be built or just stands?

That has been suggested numerous times, often tied to authority in some way, but I can't remember the developer's stance on it. (If they ever replied..?)

i really hope theres gonna be some change soon, looking around at nople for new things to trade is a lot of fun, and id love to build my own stand (if they let me...), but wont do it because of the risk of someone stealing it, e.g. id like to make a silk stand, but someone can grind theft on a new alt so fast, steal all the silk, craft silk cloth/clothes and i wont ever get it back.
imo this would be on top of the change/improvement list, imagine every town/village/player having his own stand. u could spend hours just mingling around trading stuff.

Solution to stolen craft ingredients being used up is to simply taint the resulting object, in case the material is built into a structure the structure, and in case of food the toon who ate it - so you could always clearly track the object. What is needed is a way to clearly identify tainted objects so you can check if you'll be summoned.

Against pointless griefing (theft + shallow water) it could maybe make sense to be able to backtrack the old HF locations, so you could follow the trail of the perpetrator back to his original village.

Else i'm with sabinati, it should not be impossible to steal from high-level players.

Spawn alt at Nople, grind up theft, laugh as even your old hearth doesn't lead anywhere.

Stealing from high level players isn't impossible, you just need to be high level yourself. The random range can be tweaked to make it feasible for mid-tier thieves to steal from high tier shop owners, and low tier from mid-tier. But if all fails, you can always bruteforce it.

I really like Potjeh's idea because it will give incentive to build up currently underused stats and skills for specialized tasks. Also it adds more emphasis to the thief's act and their comparable skill (thief with more skill is more likely to cause trouble than some fresh thief alt).

heres an idea that would solve alot of issues with thievery, simply make it so you can only make a single character and that it memorizes ip adresses so you cant log onto a different account within 12 hours or something that way it would solve alt vaults. Flame away
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

that would require jorb and loftar to police the player list, which they've said they are unwilling to do, or to hire someone to do it, which they don't really want to spend the money on, so yeah

this wouldn't work in so many ways

also, how exactly would it "solve alt vaults"?
