Deforestation has plenty of causes beyond a need for charcoal.
Besides, animal bones ostensibly could also be used for charcoal. I'm sure in time besides gold and other metals we're going to run into coal veins in the mines.
AND, yes, I fully expect branches to become limited or trickier to get somehow in the future and this suggestion was slightly anticipatory of that. I hope the same goes for other unlimited resources, like apples and mulberries.
Would encourage us to build apple orchards! Also to deal with a real threat of starvation and building self-sustaining communities (once hunger is less out of control anyway)
