Fully agree with this, it will prompt more people to donate and help HandH survive and get more updates along the way.

If they urgently need money, many of us would probably donate if they prompted us to. It worked for Wikipedia. A special coloured name on the forum or whatever little thing would probably handle the rest of the donations and could be used as a last resort. They've chosen to handle things the way they are, and I'm sure they know that any MMO can be profitable with minimal effort.

Perhaps have a little "donation" shop that could have everything from variations on decorative furniture, to customization options on village items and such, to the ability to add skulls on spikes to the tops of your palisades (would still require a skeleton to acquire the skull from, but only someone with the ability could mount it).

On an unrelated note, I am a proud member of the Church of Sabinate. Gib monies and don't get repotted!

People may choose to attack the players who have fancy decorations if they can be acquired, or simply out of spite. People may also give these players special treatment by paying tribute and offering protection. I think it's a bad idea to let money mess with gameplay. Especially in the first case; people may feel cheated/scammed if they lost something they paid for. People may even hold back from donating in that situation.

This is wise. I'm pro donation incentive, but nothing that can be used as currency or that enhances the abbilities of the avatar. The visual improvements might instead be focused around the character itself. Maybe costomizeable hair?

Conclussion: Nothing that makes the game imbalanced.

I'd pay for this game. If it stays free theres just going to be more and more lag as the playerbase grows. They need more money so that they can get a better server. No stuff that is impossible to get without paying, just something like a passive advancement system for payers that reduces the LP grind.
