A Compliment and Critque of World 5's LP System

Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

This is more grind that it was for me before in W3 and W4.

I don't grind because I don't give a hoot about numbers in these games; I would just play and build my little camp or farm as I played, and my character would grow naturally. With this new system I have no growth at all, and I've chosen the wrong skills apparently so I'm sort of locked. But in any case, this new system, I have to constantly think about my character's growth, instead of just simply playing the game like I used to be able to.

So yeah I'm not very impressed with the new LP system; I think it's interesting but it has tons of flaws currently (like why even keep LP around as it is? Why not make studying/curiosities open new skillsets instead of just granting more damn numbers to grind up to unlock the skillsets as it used to be?). It's like the devs wanted to do something completely new but half-assed it into some wierd hybrid.

Is the map generator different at all? Or will the new world be similar in composition to W3 and W4?

Well, some bushes as interactable objects(raspberries!) along with bits of shallow water around(brooks!) and gullys should not be hard to implement while really diversifying the forests.

Food other than bread has no purpose besides gaining stats.

You're so deep in your optimization game that you don't even realize that some people simply didn't or marginally care about FEP and shit. They simply crafted higher end food because the process to acquire it was fun.

And I'm simply foraging because the process is fun.

I think lp bonus for opening new recipes/staff must be adjusted, like example - Rope prereq is Animal Husbandry, so than you get rope first time you get part of animal husbandry lp (1/2 for example - 200 lp). Bar of Steel has prereq Steelmaking, so its opening give to you 2500 lp bonus. Constants may be adjusted, but this method make investigation of hard level items more preferable.

Are you complaining about the 'having friends' aspect? Is that your problem?

Anyone that has played with me can attest to how casually I've taken this game ever since it began. My stats last world were 15-30, my highest skill was around 24.

I honestly don't know what to say about the new system. In some ways its awesome and in others it is outright horrible and a burden. I played 8 hours yesterday, of which were my remaining time of staying up late before crashing out. I spent the first few hours wandering, not really gaining anything. The first dream you get is next to useless as you can't use it to build a well, as it doesn't count as to having seen a Beautiful Dream, and thus you must build a Catcher and wait for a new dream. So I spent another 2 finding a river finally. By the time I gathered 8 rabbits and a ton of food and finished my Timber house, I WAS DEAD TIRED. Time to pass out, normally by now I have worked my butt off and have Yeomanry and can goto sleep in peace. Not this time nor in this system. I had to log off I was dead tired beyond comprehension, and YES i just logged in and found all my hard work GONE and looted. Lovely system. I have always been raised that the slothful are pillaged, and the diligent are safeguarded, having thought first. NOT IN THIS SYSTEM :(

And to top the cake, server just crashed. :D
