Woah, I left this thread to it's own for a few days, and well, heh, It's grown.

Just to throw it out there, some of the ideas I was making up on the spot, and others were to keep some other people from whining, just a safety, don't question me.

*AHEM* The only real thing I'm sticking true with is 'hot' items, and durations. DAYS IRL is a little extensive. Maybe like half-a-day, or when the scents to the item are destroyed. All the times I put on aren't definite of my ideas, just variables that can be tweaked. :ugeek:

Sorry for improvising in most of the post, It's really only the 'hot' items I'm standing by.

RE: the realism argument, regardless of whether or not it matters, IRL authorities have tracked physical goods from many thefts after the good has been passed on...
Obviously they don't have the same "radar" that the game uses, but that's an abstraction, same as they don't have a radar for tracking perpetrators, same as IRL all goods don't look identical.

So in my considered opinion, extending the ability to track people who commit crimes to being able to track items stolen is not breaking the immersion gained from realism in any way that tracking in general doesn't already break it.
