In real life, when you shoot to a hog, it will run, at more than full speed, for kilometers. Here it happens often that hogs are shot but the hunters lose them because they run too quick in the forest and dogs can't reach them, so I found once a dead hog in a gorge after months it was there.

In the context that they're applied, the wording is not aggressive, rather used for emphasis.

If you're applying spelling to 'gimping' then welcome to the internet. Turns out that, like all living languages, words can attain new meaning and, especially in english, we can rework words to carve out the definitions we need! It's like magic except, you know, really common. Nerf, nerfing, nerfed, gimped, gimping, etc. should not cause you to so much as bat an eye when discussing a video game, at least not for their usage.

In short, your attempt to discredit me and my argument based on inane and arbitrary factors is rather silly! Nice try though.

I did not mean to discredit you based on such factors as those, I am simply pointing out that in no way is cussing necessary to merely "emphasize", as you so claimed. You could have used the bold text feature.

You made him sound like a whiny bitch, that better?

No, honestly I can't, but at least I tried, and that's good enough in my book.

Okay, so maybe I didn't look up "realistic stuff". Maybe I made that judgement purely from the fact that in ratatouille, the rat had so much trouble.
I don't understand why everyone's mad at me? These are the forums, doesn't everyone have the right to express their ideas freely? -.-

Okay yes, but I'm talking about when under 20% health, not the first 10 HP you take down.

@TeckXKnight
Sorry for offending you, I didn't mean to. :(

As for everyone else, I wish people wouldn't be offended so easily, because I'm trying to the best of my ability to not offend anyone. So sure, kick a guy when he's down.
But for the sake of peacefulness, I'm gonna forget this ever happened, and keep my mouth shut.

No, it's not good enough. Some person "tries" to change the oil in their car to save $20 and end up with a $1000 repair because they did it wrong. Trying is never good enough. Know what you're about. Many people think that when they're young, and then they grow up and realize what kind of clusterfuck things can be left in because they just "tried." <Instert Yoda here>

Is there any expense in throwing ideas out there? Only pride. Just check the attitude about it, though. Commit to it or don't bother with coming forward cause the world will rip you a new hole.

Sure, express you're ideas freely. It's the internet. Who's going to stop you? Why everyone so mad? I don't think they are. More likely they're laughing at the village idiot. (Teck, on the other hand, looked pretty pissed at your attempt at censorship.)

I don't know why everyone keeps on bringing this quote up. "Realism" is always a good start for a mechanic in a game. If it doesn't feel natural or smooth, then people are going to trip over it and be confused, unless that's the purpose of it. Do I want my game to become a full blown simulation? No, but I want it to look natural and have a consistent environment. This is why reality becomes abstracted in a game. My FPS doesn't need to fully model the physics of a bullet in a field environment. It just needs to have a little scatter to it when I hold down the fire key when using a fully automatic rifle. What are HP for in a RTS if not an abstraction of the reality of the randomness of the battlefield and actually taking a lethal blow? If that RTS were a full on simulation, the performance of the unit would start to degrade from damage (and there are some games out there like that).

Lastly, I'd like to leave you with one last thought:

Harden up, little dude. Quit trying so hard. It's the fucking internet. No matter what you say, someone will take offense at it. Just like in life, say what you mean and learn when to keep you mouth shut and when to sound off. Also, if someone comes back at you for a mistake, admit to it. There's a time to say "oops, my bad" and a time to write an apology letter. Learn the difference. (FYI, you don't go to Hell for using a few bad words. People like to make others think that, but what is uncouth and

Perhaps, but under the circumstances I wouldn't call this a $1000 fine, just everyone getting mad at me because I tried to help.

I said sorry, what else can I say? I can't delete something that he's already read, what else do you want me to do?

I'm not mad, like I said it made me chuckle... I'm new also, so I'm not downing you for throwing your ideas out there I do the same. the thing most people are on your case about is your argument with Tex, the guy that answer's everyone's nooby questions(although I blame my first chars death on him I probably would have died a few more times without him answering all my questions). also try hunting, grab a sling get in your boat and hope to find a boar(easiest thing to kill imo) near the edge of a river. after you've done that come back and discuss hunting more, but its bad form to discuss changes to a system when you've never used the system...

as far as realism in this game goes, DEER!

Yeah... I think it got out of hand, and I truly am sorry. I said that, but he hasn't responded at all.

I have a sling, but I'm not finding any boars in this game. Never there when ya need em, always there when ya hate 'em.

Don't expect him to. You'll be lucky if he didn't just put you on ignore.

Boars are all over the place usually. It's the bear and deer that can be hard to find. When strolling around to hunt, don't move around as much and use the scroll feature to move the window around to make sure you're not missing anything in visible range. With the slow load speeds recently from the resource server, you can run right past a boar and not even know it because you never saw the image load.

Oh, sorry I let this get out of hand! I don't actually ignore anyone on the forums besides bots. Once critical points have been made, I let discussion die away and I never meant for this to spiral to the point that it did -- also you asked for the topic to be dropped so I did so. I bear no grudge and wasn't actually mad, just absolutely in awe.

Once again, my apologies that it got so bad and don't feel too discouraged Gabe!
