I could find a use for it with only 10 UA, so it's not inconceivable that hermits can either.

Who says you need to know how to use it?
All you need is a sword, bear cape and a translated word to russian in google translate and you'll be looking so badass and feared by all.

right up until you piss off the wrong person, get shot(since bearcapes suck as armor) and have no more sword, or character...

I have swords, I have the skills to use a sword, but I have never used one. to me its just so much simpler to shoot an animal from a boat. not having to worry about breaking its defense, whether I have the right amount of ip, if there is enough intensity to use a move...the combat system is complex.

I agree with Magic on this 1, if you don't have metal you probably don't need a sword. that doesn't mean I don't support the addition of new weapons in the game. I'd also support a change making iron stronger than bronze in both weapons and armor(as current bronze weapons and armors in game are far superior to those made from iron, even though iron is a far stronger metal).

Well, yeah, but you can find iron or copper and tin that quick, too, so... point made? :D

Hey um if you have wooden swords and you sting another player or animal could there be chance the one that got stung to get a splinter? That way it would be easy for the animal to get killed instead of running or do long term damage to a player almost like a thorn in foot

That would be incredibly silly. I see no reason why that wouldn't be possible. I don't think it'd do nearly as much damage as you're thinking it will though.

And surely the player wielding the sword should be always "thorninthefoot'ed"

This. The combat system is extremely intimidating, never mind its other virtues.

It's not. Steel is far stronger than bronze, but iron isn't.

Adding to this, I currently have a hunting alt with 2 ua, 3 mc and 25 mm
I can kill up to bears with my sting and I don't have a ss
