The combat system is made in the way so you're supposed to work for your defense to stay up, not grind your con to be equal to the enemy's strength and survive everything. If you DID get your defense to 0 somehow, you're not SUPPOSED to survive a full hit.

There are some good ideas in this suggestion. I like the idea that Vaku is thinking about a creative way to stop there being constant combat other than a grind cost to making another combat ready character to recover after loss.

That said Xcom had a very valid criticism in that currently the primary value of items is the difficulty, through the grind, in obtaining them. Progression and production would need to be entirely different in Haven for such a system to be viable.

At the same time, I would argue that there are many hard-core grinders that can make new combat viable characters at such a quick rate that loss in combat does little to their ability to go around murdering everyone at will, which in many ways undermines the real purpose behind the current progression system, to exact real loss when one is killed. It just makes their E-Peen UAC's lower for a short time (or no time if they have other combat alts, as many do.) ¦]
