This is genius. I always thought we needed a blue bar with a drop off water representing how fatigued we are, and making completing certain tasks impossible until that blue bar representing thirst and not stamina because they are very different concepts is refilled.

Actually humans have evolved to be sprinters. We used to hunt by chasing down animals until they tired out. So it is actually realistic to be able to out run most animals.

Gonna need a source on that one. There is a strong indication based on our legs, our bipedal nature, our spinal curvature, and the elongated design of our feet that we're meant to be walkers who go on for long distances. Chasing down animals until they wore out was also something not practiced by most, if any, early hunters -- humans were generally scavengers who stole game from other animals when not eating berries and fruit. The bulk of our diet tended to be foraged goods rather than meat.

In all seriousness, in terms of speed and endurance an elk wins out against even the pinnacle of human olympians. Saying we are faster than quadrupedal animals is a gross form of misinformation.

Your statement is also contradictory. Sprinting and endurance are polar opposites. As a sprinter, I can assure you that if you're going more than 300 yards at a sprint you will collapse in a heap of dry vomiting for the next half an hour.

We evolved for endurance, not speed.

That's why traps, fences and weapons like sling, spear, bow, boomerang haven't been developed ...

And what animals are these then, old and infirm ones, lol, I can't even outrun my cat, let alone my dog, horse or even the gerbil when it escaped, haha, I can outrun both a sheep and a cow though, tried and tested, lol.

Humans

The top speed of humans was clocked at 27 mph by Olympic sprinters Michael Johnson and Donovan Bailey during their Olympic competitions. At top speed, which only lasts for very short bursts, the human ranks around number 30 and is preceded by the White Tailed Deer, the Wart Hog, the Grizzly Bear and the cat to name a few. It must be further noted that the average top speed of an in shape male human being is between 15-18 mph.

About animal speed and hunting, I'd like to point you to UnReal World gameplay.

It's a game somewhat like H&H (except it's solo).

There are 2 ways to hunt there :
- passive : using traps and baits (there are various. depending of the game you are willing to catch).

- active : you basically sneak onto an animal try to hit it (easier with ranged weapons like bows / spears / ...).
If you do hit it, and depending on your skills, and some luck, it'll have different effect.
For example the animal can get injured and run slower, or bleed, or fall unconscious...

Then it's all about following it, closely enough so he gets tired and you can deliver the final blow.

Animals leave tracks which you can follow more or less easily (depending on a skill).

About running speed, an Elk will be WAY faster than you. Don't even expect to get up close as you would with HnH's deers for instance.
Though if he's injured that's another story.

H&H hunting system is way too "arcade" and quite broken Imo.
Animals can't break signs fences when fleeing... twitch hunting... OP river ranged attacks...

Any experimented player can kill a bear without too much hassle after a few hours playing on a brand new character.
Go tickle a bear on URW without dogs and have fun re-rolling. :-)

So yeah, hunting is too easy. Rabbits, foxes and deers should at least flee when they see a human and their aura should be augmented at least to the double (maybe depending on the player stealth).

First of all, Haven animals will flee. These are not modern animals used to Human dominance and have reason to fear us. Yes hunting could be made more realistic but why? Why do i need to have a hunting simulator inside the game? Is there not enough to do? Leave hunting a fun experience rather than a step by step hunting guide.

As for the earlier statement, Humans evolved to out think animals. It was tools that gave us our edge.
