I believe the summation to those who participate in the bot arms race and its propagation is Fuck them. That said the stat ceiling won't happen and would strangle a game like Haven that is meant to recycle and grow itself. Even if in its current state it does not do that, it is the eventual goal for it to be a self sustaining world. What is likely to happen is a shift away from combat and a reduction to the benefits of combat and griefing in order to discourage any further arms race from occurring. To properly do this siege needs to be revamped, as does pvp, and the lp system will not survive in its current state. None of this is new. Will these changes actually discourage botters? We'll see. That's the thing about Haven, it's one big experiment to see what works and what doesn't at what scales. So we're in this together to educate one another. =)
Bob dole thinks a shift away from combat is retarded. There will always be a bot arms race, even without combat. They will race to have the best crops, and race to have the best cows.
Sad to say but I am in agreeance with overtyped, people will want to have the best and will use any means necessary to attain it.
I hate to say it, but bots are one of the reasons the game thrives, it fills the void where players feel is wasted time and energy. As long as people feel like this bot's won't be far behind, unless something else takes it's place.
Bot's are the cold emotionless enforcers who work tirelessly for their masters, the only way to beat them is to outsmart them... which is difficult to say the least.
I mean I know there's comment's such as;

If need make a boring thing try to hire a newbie to do the job .
Ok, so lemme break this down;
1)Bot's are never welcome? Well if they were so unwelcome they wouldn't exist; the fact is people are trading for items more then likely made by a bot, which only facilitates them and makes more people use them. You say their unwelcome, but the evidence points to the contrary.
2)The point about the NPC's are to do the work you've already done for hours upon hours and outgrown. If that feels like cheating then don't use them, just like how the bots are used now but without them escaping as easily and they also have their own agenda, so their not always working on what the player wants ALL the time. Which is funny, because it would make a lot of NPC towns you could raid by the sound of it. The stronger the town, the more skulls to make thrones with or cups as well, see you'd benefit too.
3)So, you'd rather someone ELSE use up THEIR time to do what YOU want? I dunno about you but that sounds like slavery, which in my opinion is worse then the bots.
(P.S. You might wanna check your sentence structure a bit more on that post, it was a bit painful to look at. Google translate or bablefish can help you there.)

Hate to say it, but this is true. People want stuff but don't want to waste time, you need to remember, this is a game. To play it you need an internet connection, electricity and preferably a home so your computer doesn't fry in the rain. You need money to pay for those things which means a job, most of which won't let you play games while on the clock.
So how do you get great stuff while your working?
Bots...

You can fuck them all you want, sadly the basterds are like zombies; kill five and another twelve are waiting for you.

Whoa wait, seriously? If that's the case, why haven't they got it so trees regrow? I mean, that's like an integral tool for beginners. Those and the large stones EVERYBODY KEEPS TURNING INTO RUNESTONES!
How about scripting in a squirrel army that plants nuts, or birds and bees that protect trees to give bots a hard time? Bear's could also path to bee trees in search for honey! Oh shyt, getting off topic... sorry.

Sadly, I think this might also trigger the opposite. I've seen how some griefers act, a good portion don't care what they GET so much as who they can get to stop playing. True changing the combat would put a pitfall in their plans, but in the end they'd just learn it and use it like this one.
New siege mechanics?

Will we get trebuchet's!?

and maybe castle walls!

Maybe a means of creating a mobile fortresses pulled by Demonic BEASTS summoned from the pit of OLIZABUUDUU!!!

Ok, maybe not that last one.

But a wagon ring should work!
I'm just in this to see where it's all going, it's when people believe there's nothing more to be done is when things get stagnant. That's why it's always fun to throw a little randomness in here and there, keeps the cheese from getting moldy... OR MAKES IT GET MOLDY! HAHAHAHA!
I just think their should be more systems in place to make better use of the resources in general. After all, their are things in game that aren't even used... What the heck are those treant's for anyway? Might as well have rainbows with leprechauns dancing at their ends, or mushroom rings that attract fairies.
Meh, I've gone on in exposition and reverie long enough.
I still think there's an opportunity with NPC's, but that's just my opinion.
Till the next discussion.
