Indeed? As a part of traditional native cuisine? Feel free to enlighten me!

This is not a response to Jorb, but to the argument in general.

It is not a question of whether the cuisine fits the atmosphere. Especially for newbies, this is not a game of meals made by chefs. This is a game of wilderness survival, and someone starving in the wilds should be able to eat just about anything that crawls and is not poisonous. For that reason, I support frog legs. I have eaten them and salamanders in "camping" situations, along with grasshoppers and lottsa other things I would not like to find on my dinner plate IRL.
(not that they tasted all that bad, mind ya.)

As a part of wandering around the local lake with friends when I was in elementary school. We used to hang out there all day, and eating stuff was one of the fun parts. Fish, crayfish, frog legs, berries, crabapples, deadnettle flowers, black locust flowers, you name it.

OK, so it's not really traditional cuisine, but it's a decent approximation of a survivalist cuisine.

That, and frog legs are really popular in the south of the country, but that's been bordering Venice-occupied Dalmatia back in the day, so I'm not sure how authentic their cuisine is.

But really, the point is that there isn't any taboo against eating frogs.

Hmmhmm, Indeed. Please note that by taboo here I don't necessarily mean something that is strictly forbidden, but more something that is considered unclean (not necessarily in a religious sense), filthy or, quite simply, a bit gross and nasty.

Anyways, there doesn't seem to be much disagreement on the main point: Rats and toads should be edible. :)

Well, I think rats would be considered unclean over here, but I wouldn't hesitate to eat one if I was hungry enough ;)

No, and Trieste rightfully belongs to Austro-Hungarian successors (Croatia, for example) as well :P

Bah, nonsense! All are legitimate possessions of the first French Empire. ;)
