Is it possible to get item coordinates? If soil quality system doesn't work, herded (look at Chakravanti herd UI idea) cows/sheeps can periodically get their coordinates and absolute valor(previous position - actual position) and then change their quality based on distance. The more you travel, the more Q grow, so herders will actually have a good reason to drive their herds across the world.
