Think it through. WIth better alt management functions as is being talked about elsewhere, 'those PvPer' ARE you. Or other players in your village that wish to play PvP. I would run several PvP toons as well as a mooner. When I distinguish between PvPer and Mooners I am more referring to toons than their players even if some of those players prefer one over the other or one exclusively.

If they come back you log off your mooner and log in your PvP toon. ONly reason I haven't really invested a shitton of effort into PvP toons is because of a broken combat system. I have a murder alt on standby should I collect a scent or two worthy of use but other than that it's not viable to make a combat ready toon that isn't my mooner.

Not really.

The reason I don't PVP is because conflict annoys me instead of amusing me. Pvp players are not griefers, and the possibility of getting killed adds a little spice to the game for me. I'm not against their being pvp. But at the same time I can't imagine wanting to send a pvp alt after the person who killed me. In effect as soon as they make me change my game to their game they have won. I am no longer playing the game I want to play. In that respect the pvp player who targets me is just like a griefer. The easiest way to go back to the game I like to play is simply to generate a new character in the wilderness and go back to it somewhere else.

And as for the advantage of a pvp player in my village... well, my observation is that if you hang out with aggressive players they might just turn on you on no real pretext -I think Maltmaker might agree with me on this one. Or someone who is in violent competition with your village mate comes looking for them and finds you instead. I can't see the advantage of hanging out with a pvp player any more than I can see the advantage of hanging out with thieves. When has any pvp player actually been able to protect a non combatant? Seriously. I have never heard about a single instance in this game of some non-fighter getting attacked and some fighter stepping in and saving them.

Zizi seems to have a similar mentality to me.

There are quite a few mooners around with a similar mentality. We don't mind PvP existing, but so far as we're concerned, thieves and PKers are NPC's. We don't want to interact with them, they're a penalty part of the game that we want to avoid where possible.

Living with a thief tends to get you stolen from, living with a murderer tends to get you murdered.

Nothing says that you can't develop a murderous character and not use it. You need to carefully evaluate who you induct into your fold. It has nothign to to with proclavity toward raiding to have PvP viable toons.

If pacifism if your method of dealing with thieves and raiders then I'm not going to argue against your philosophy. It's yours and the consquences of it shall be your own. I'm saying it should rather be VIABLE for a town to log in toons capable of defending their resources. Just because you can doesn't mean you have to. It also doesn't have to be a different player's.

Furthermore, I'm speaking of increasing DEFENSE. Not offense. I'm actually talking about LIMITING overall offensive capabilities and making them on par with defensive viability.
