I gather that it's not an effective painkiller compared to poppies or straight out distilled liquor, so it seems illogical to me to use it for healing as a painkiller when you have better stuff around. It doesn't speed the knitting of broken bones and it doesn't make a good poultice.

I'm most contented to see it being used for rope and cloth. Those were its most common traditional uses.

How common was fly agaric in medieval and pre-medieval Northern Europe?

Lets take a look at other catalysts of schizophrenia shall we;

http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/con ... type=HWCIT

http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/con ... 162/9/1652

http://www.schizophrenia.com/sznews/arc ... 01554.html

They are finding increased risk of schizophrenia from everything from “being too introverted and being alone too much”, emigrating to a new country – up to 4X increased risk, having an unpleasant and unstable home life as a child, experience – social adversity – four or more episodes of “abuse” increased risk by 2.7X, living in a city (3X increased risk), especially an inner city (as opposed to the country), or being vulnerable to depression or anxiety.

In order to avoid schizophrenia, according to the site, one would have to never go live in a new country, never spend a lot of time alone or be an introvert, never move to a city or an inner city or never grow up in one, be robust in handling stress, experience little social adversity, and somehow assure that one had a happy and stable home life as a child.

Blah blah blah we're off topic anyway.

If we add in more ways to heal, we need to add in more ways to DIE. Notably, poison or sickness.

One thing is full sure though, healing is an absolute BITCH as a newbie. Hell, I'm still healing with leeches myself. I honestly think linen should be appropriate for bandages, like already stated. Perhaps make Wool bandages that heal better then the linen bandages that heal for less.

Who knows? I'm sure whatever you guys come up with will work out just fine.

The thing is, that's leeches.

Poultices would be the next step up, because beehives are a lot easier than obtaining wool for people out in the boonies.

They should add some sort of balm that heals. You grind up hemp seeds in a qwern and mix it with some sort of berry or something and then apply it to yourself. It could have a long apply time but diring this time it slowly restores hhp and you (and your target if healing others) must remain stationary.

Also more types of bandages and more places to apply a bandage. So you could have a bandage on your head and chest.

I approve of this thread, especially:

Maybe just add a root for healing or something for newbies (like me xP).

Oh, and smoking hemp of course.
I thought that's what hemp is used for ingame, anyway. How can anyone put hemp in the game and not allow players to smoke it? that's just cruel.

Actually smoking hemp is ineffective. It really is a different plant entirely. It's kind of like Granny Smith apples and Gala. One is large and green the other is small and yellow-red. The difference is flavor and appearance with apple. With Cananbis...the difference is the THC content. In hemp...it's virtually non existant. You could grow an acre of hemp and not extract enough THC to get you high.

Tourniquet: Plant Fibers + Branch
Splint: Plant Fibers + Wood Blocks.

Furthermore, you don't need wool to make a bandage. Linen should be just as useful.

And furthermoremore, the human body is generally pretty good at healing itself, so bedrest should SLOWLY restore HHP.

I agree about the bedrest....I think that should be the most common way of healing. 1HHP/2-3 RL hours, maybe?

Tourniquet and splint I like less. Tourniquets dont heal you, they stop bloodloss and kill what ever part of the body is past them.

Splints allow broken bones to heal in their original form...they dont really speed any healing. Maybe if we get a broken bone debuff, use this to counter it?

talking about wool... a cotton plant to get "wool" from would also be nice.
I've never even seen a sheep ingame till now -.-

Good idea. Cotton has been around for thousands and thousands of years, and in use by humans.
