Then dont use pachos client because not everyone has a bigger resolution.

This is, for all purposes that matter, not true.
I am not a newb, and while I know most of the formulae and know how to use a spreadsheet, some of the formulae/internal workings or processes are simply too much of a mess to figure out for most people (honey, I am looking at you)
I do not doubt that WV have both the honey "formula" as well as, say, the exact crucible workings figured out, because you are an investigating and organized lot (hats of to you in this respect, I have to reluctantly admit :-) ).

However, some aspects of the game are simply too convoluted for the average playtester to discover without huge investments in playing time and resources.
The developers of course have reason to keep those mechanics in the dark, to maintain the feeling of mystery and literally "technological progress", on the other hand this leaves the game in an (intended) limbo between alpha-stage/testing and finished/competitive.

I myself am guilty of hardly spending any of my time trying more or less weird combinations to find bugs, but largely playing the game by-the-book.

I am not (exclusively) complaining, just pointing out some obvious facts about the climate for playtesting.

Everyone can get pachos client if they really want too so your analogy is fail.

no righteous man raises his hand against the innocent,
a man need only strike another to make him evil."

So the new dev policy is to let people keep bugged items? That's just fucked up.

everyone can get the saw, they just have to push farming to the sky.
That is even cheaper than buying a new pc if yours is too bad for a bigger resolution, or pachos client in general.

Yeah, takes about as much manhours as it would to build a log cabin all by yourself IRL. With nothing but a swiss knife, of course.

I'm sorry, but time is not cheap. Time is money.

I'm in favour of a reset, but I think there are certain things that should accompany it. Update to village code being one. Update to claims/walls/theft another. Stuff that helps people manage town development and hence avoid wastelands.

I also think that the current spawn anywhere system should be replaced with a spawn anywhere inside placed with civilization level of 0-3. Letting people avoid being surrounded by wasteland is great, but they should still have to head outwards to get to real wilderness.
