In which case simply having them be very much more limited and wild across the whole world is also a fine idea.

I agree with you in theory. The "per supergrid" idea is basically just a stand-in to create a bit more localization of resources, until the map generator itself is improved to do the job. Since you can find pretty much every terrain (barring only thickets) pretty much anywhere in the world, there is no way to make this sort of localized resource effect with the current world...

when we'll have islands and big seas, the localization will be naturally. So is ok a normal spawn all over the world, without grid problem.
