There's no need for a well-managed village with a mine to attack a mine-less and poorly managed village - they gain nothing from it while the backward scenario is still implausible - they'd just get their asses kicked.

The raids experienced in some of the current regions are more like this:

'Two guys came to our village, killed everyone and left.'

End of story.

A battering ram was the dev's try to make wars and raids more into organised conflicts, but somebody fails to lock the gates and everyone's in it is dead. Maybe if they made gates more easy to close and open by their builder, password or a code instead of a key, maybe, it would be a step towards organised conflicts.

Password - Bruteforce
Code - Bruteforce
Limited access by builder - Unrealistic

And what, you think that medieval city councils handed out keys of the city to every gong collector and rat-catcher that lived in them? They had guards that stood by the gates and opened and closed them to let people in or out. And if you're thinking of suggesting that actual players do this guard job, please spend just 6 hours standing next to a gate, staring constantly at your H&H screen.

Jackard had this idea a while back that would abstract keys. why don't we have this yet!

While there are some warmongers out there, I believe that the overwhelming majority of players choose to avoid pvp at all costs because of the associated devastating loss of invested time and effort.
If you give the warmongers more incentive to go on killing sprees, all you will accomplish is driving away most of the already sparse population. If you don't want to destroy H&H, then there is simply no way you can increase the PvP element without reducing the death penalty first. And since we all know that's not going to happen, the entire discussion is pointless.

I think your wrong. I think this games population would go straight to zero if PVP was removed from this game. I think PVP helps this game not hinders it... there are tons of games with carebear pvp systems... the harsh penalties in this game set it apart... and its the reason alot of us play. If they removed the death penalties in this game I may not play anymore... and im hardly a warmonger...

What he is suggesting is giving you some hope of getting your stats back once you die... and being able to permanently locate your murderer if he chooses to make a necklace out of you. I think it would certainly make the game more interesting

read my sig. it points out the problem with the game: fundamentals.
in my opinion, keep permadeath and PvP, but get rid of high-investment characters. problem solved..sorta...

SO a PvP ranking system that gives greater rewards for killing people who have the most kills.

Kind of like...highlander...

Not gonna work thay way, cause of permadeath, so both players have 50 melee, you win and kill him, get a bone necklase that lets you have 54 meelee, so now you have 54 and the one who died has 12, so how is he supposed to take revenge ?
