And mentioned when you first turn of swimming as well
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

so its actually told to all newbies who actually read information available. If you dont read new players guides, how can you complain that noone told this to a new player?

Even if you don't read the new players guides, there is a message in the friggin' game when you first turn on swimming. Still trying to swim and then complain when you drown is like touching an electrical fence that has a big ass warning sign on it and suing the electrical company afterwards.

I got a bunch of CON, obtained a Silver for the Ferryman, trained Swimming, and I love it. Just sayin. No more draggin a damn boat around while hunting, it's great.

I'm sure that swimming is great when you get around to it, but the problem is that it doesn't map to anyone's intuitions. Haven and Hearth aspires to model aspects of reality. In the real world, 9-year-olds who have learned to swim routinely spend several hours every summer-y day in swimming pools, lakes, rivers, and the open ocean. In Haven and Hearth, mighty* heroes routinely drown within three minutes of stepping into the water.

I mean, I don't demand realism in everything, but people are upset because their intuitions from the real world do not map to the game world, and the resulting disconnect *kills their character* before they have the opportunity to realize what's going wrong.

* (At least, I'm sure their mothers were proud of them.)

I started swimming around 300 con. Never really worried about drowning and never wore a ring. You can swim across a river with 150 probably, use a ring for safety. 200 you can probably stop using a ring though its a little risky. 300+ no worry at all. I think loftar said at 1k con you can basically swim forever.
