I was under the impression that this was the case, or at least that it was supposed to work this way. I'm almost positive that I experienced something similar in W3, although I think the "afk" check on characters hasn't been working as intended for a while.

It's trivial to macro walking in circles.

You are talking in circles now.

Maybe It could be done to not count the same action within a certain amount of time or resent actions count less. But that is really irrelevant.

The point is that there are other ways that this problem could be dealt with other than opening it up so all toons can gain LP and Beliefs without even being played.

The point is why in the hell must we wait for beliefs anyway? The whole personal beliefs system is poorly executed and needs some serious redesign.

Because being able to change them at the drop of a hat is dumb and makes the system completely useless? The whole point is giving various PRO/CON options to the player and letting them decide how they want to build their character.

there should be a more interesting mechanic than a timer, though.

there's nature/indy, and now barb/civ is something to actually think about, good old tradition for war time, and other than that the belief system is a no brainer. whether or not you think it's "good gameplay" to afk in a house for slider moves, it's what people are doing and it won't be changing anytime soon as long as the system works the way it does

Agreed, but it will still take "time", regardless of whether it's measured in time or not.

Why AFK though? PLAY THE FUCKING GAME and you'll still be able to move your slider same as the guy sitting in his cellar, with the added benefit of ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING!

Are people honestly trying to argue that it's a better to leave your guy AFK with the current system? How does that make any sense at all? Not having an available slider point DOESN'T PREVENT YOU FROM PLAYING THE GAME.
