C'mon Jorbtar, do what John Carmack would do. Release the fucking code.

The best thing that could happen is someone takes the code and makes a way better version of it, the player would love it but jorbtar would be upset with themselves, they would lose popularity in the original and they would lose control on their own game.

I am pretty sure nothing can compare to haven. Only if loftar were to clean up his sloppy coding will this game become a true masterpiece.

Exactly! The people who gave up Haven for Salem was either rage-quitting from lag, or going to where the graphics are, the fact is the graphics on haven and hearth arent great, but the aesthetics are much better :)

Why I think Haven and Hearth isn't too popular

Jorb and Loftar dropped the server in the bathtub and can't fix it, and would much rather roll in the jew gold with Salem(albeit salem is horrifyingly bad and H&H would be a better money maker)

Mediocre clown mods

Mediocre clown community

Other than that, it's great.
If the lag was dealt with I'd gladly hand over all my shekels to play H&H

i know! the Salem graphics are choppy and weirdly 'childish', in comparison to other isometric games haven and hearth has okay graphics, but the aesthetics (foliage, particles, lighting and other looks) are what really sell the game to me, no one wants to build an ugly village :)

But they still keep HnH running on the server for us who love to play it. And i'm sure they want a solution for fixing HnH like we do - we just have to be patient... (which is HnH immanent anyway).

The point isn't whether HnH is popular or not - the point is not putting pressure on Loftar and Jorb...

I disagree. A game like HnH is entirely based on it's community- it would be a very different game if player demographics were different.

I think that if Loftar and Jorb really cared about Haven and Hearth, and it's community (ie, us), they would release the source code and let the community tackle the problems the game faces. Modders could improve performance, graphics, add features that people have been clamoring for for ages, and private servers would allow players to have a true, untouched wilderness to explore and enjoy with their friends, or even just a smaller group of people (what would the game look like with, say, four hundred players, or eighty players?)

I haven't played this game for months because of the neglect that it's developers have shown to it- and the corresponding unfortunate state of the game.

If Jorb and Loftar really are making a new Haven game, why not release this one? :|

I agree just open source it already. However I am willing to bet, with how protective of their source code they are, they will wait to release it after the 'new Haven' is released, or will most likely (99.9% probability) never release it at all.

I also don't understand why they don't release the code. Like, what do they want on this game anymore? lol

they dont need to necessarily open the source at all, i think they could just give the source to some people they trust, making a developer team. This way, their source are still protected, and everybody is happy.

last time i suggested it some fucking moron came to offend me, i still dont understand why lol

HnH forums where a moron can call another a moron ;) and poke about the same thing over and over that has been answered to the max ...

The time needed to instruct (and supervise) such a dev team isn't at hand - Loftar already said that when asked to have someone else admin the HnH game server...

Different ppl try to develop something similiar to HnH - ask them where they run into difficulties, you may get a clue what's the worth of the code to keep it closed... ;)

There will be a day when Loftar and Jorb will have to definitly decide how to carry on with HnH - but that's not now...
