I'm sorry, but I just don't see how being able to see what somebody else is selling far away is 'stupid'. You're going to have to tell me why. Because its not realistic? That's not very persuasive for all the old reasons.

it hurts gameplay for the 'trader' archetype if you can see global prices

the traditional sort of wandering peddler or merchant that tries to make a profit off of selling goods between towns, hes going to have a tough time if everything costs about the same

i think a main Problem with a Trader class is the lack of LP you get for trading, if there was someway that one could possibly buy stuff using LP i think the trader class would be a more viable option, despite weather there are trading posts or not

okay sorry jackard, the only way i think that a trader class will be viable is if the replacement for LP is worked into the trade aspect of the game, maybe a transfer of wyrd when you trade or something?

(is that more correct for you?)

if the replacement for LP is to simply have material wealth be more important then trading is its own reward... kind of is anyway

forget money and make a system so we can trade with lp.. so you sell and buy with lp, this way good merchants would get lp.. and you would instead work for the things you want to buy.
I loled in your general direction

just now getting into the debate, but.....whats to keep someone with the mega-criminal skills from coming in and setting up his/her own little mafia kindgom and jacking the prices up to the point where we all go back to hiding in the forrests? and whats to keep people from setting up these trading villages as glorified spy-posts so as to find out about a smaller community that has something unique and these crimelords thundering in and wiping the village/people out to get all of it and thus corner a market? example: friend hunted for a week for rustroot in his area. another stumbled over three of them in less than an hour in another separate area. which area would run the greater risk of being violently raided by mega-hyped thieves?

nothing except the brave, the stupid, the bravely stupid, and the stupidly brave. if something like this does get implemented, then i will set one up inside my village, and have my military keep an eye on it. no mafia in my lands, unless they are very dedicated and stealthy, and some how escape notice. then congratz to their determination!

of the three of us playing this game together, one of us is assassin, the other is thief, and the other is beserker. so i guess, like you, we will have our own set up in case anyone wants to take over and rule the world. we are paranoid enough i doubt if youl ever get us into one of the big cities anyway.....at least not until the stealth is up to a respectable number.
