Removing the insane time investments from characters doesn't have to make the game a mindless FPS. Instead of time, characters could require semi-limited natural resources (ie they have a certain daily production), and the game would be about strategic use of your resources. If this resource production was immobile, you just need to add conquest of territory and everyone will be PvP-ing like there's no tomorrow.

Dig through the announcements forum, read them in order and pay attention to dates and you'll start to get a picture of why PvP is only just now beginning to be a subject of deabte.

Alpha status has nothing to do with it (and is far too often an excuse for whatever someone wants to make an excuse for). The devs, IMO, have made it clear that this whole game is about pvp/conflict. They're still groping toward a way to make that viable.

Wat.
This is obviously why we have farming, and crafting, and why one can live life as a peaceful hermit up on some mountain and never kill a single thing, unless he wants say, bunny slippers. PVP is an Option here, which is should be, but one of the reasons I like this game is because it's not DURRR HURRRRRR SWORDS HURRRR GUILDS DERP PVP GAIZE.

I'm afraid you're wrong. Read through the dev's statements on PvP and player conflict, and for that matter on griefing and exploits. You can choose not to engage in PvP, but you are always subject to PvP.

The game is an alpha because it is not finished, not for shits and giggles.

Hint: The combat system was put into the main server for testing because not enough people would go over to the other server to do so. It could certainly use some tweaks, but stop bitching about wanting the old system back (it sucked balls) and instead try to suggest ways to improve what they're trying to make so its fun and balanced.

Also, no summoning means having that thief/murder/vandal alt never die.

Apparently I'm an Idiot. Someone care to inform me what alpha does mean if it doesn't mean the promise of evolutions both major and minor to the game itself?

Okay thanks...I thought I was going crazy stupid for a second there.

Gotta stop you there. THe new system has some good aspects. From what I understand Str now has diminishing returns. Not sure how great an accomplishment that was because I haven't seen a damage chart but we're making some headway there and I'll give oyu that but the new system IS worse than the old one. Archery sounds nifty and maybe in need of some balance. I'm not advocating the old system but the new one is a piece of shit. It's boring, complicated and there are too many moves to hotbar. Ridiculous levels of investment are still overkill.

Also, this. Fucking, THIS. What I think makes this game awesome is that once PvP IS viable with PK anywhere and permadeath, mooners will have to rely on PvP players and may even split their attention between such toons. The catch here is that without crafters PvPers can't develop and without PvPers mooners aren't safe. Once PvP is has found a viable balance of action then this dynamic creates a politico unrivaled in any other MMO.

man after maybe the first couple days of playing on the test server, every time i tried to log in to it, it was unavailable, so i thought they had taken it offline or something and stopped trying.

=O

Chak, you missed that one little thing I wrote. Try to suggest ways to improve what they're trying to make instead of asking for the old shit again.
