Good way — personal «autority». To keep claim alive u need gain some baseLP inside claim. Some digging is enough i think. So owner don`t need to do something special (if it is not alt`s claim) to keep claim, but must live/work inside claim sometimes.

Only base LP gain filling timer (equal to all players), veeeeery slow drain, big enough limit. Full drain = 1,5—2 months. I suppose, that 200 baseLP per real week enough to keep claim (even if it is good soil or good trees).

May be longer timers and higher drain/gain for large areas.

p.s. Stop crying «i hate decay/drain/work/this game» if you want to claim all, but dont want to do something. If you don`t like to play for fun, it is better 4u to stfu+gtfo.

btw i really hope this doesnt happen id like to see improved mapgen for the next map

Actually as I wrote that I was wanting there to be geological shifts so the new world would look fundamentally different, but I was too tired to express that coherently.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Dreams are absolutely easy to obtain, and any even semi-active player can pay such kind of upkeep without too much trouble.

Without the "Dream Upkeep" (once a real-time week) the claim may slowly (1 tile from each side of a totem/24 hours) shrink to the initial 3*3 tiles around the Totem, returning LPs to the claim owner LP pool (like it happens when he removes claim at all).
When it reaches the initial size, the Totem starts decaying at a slow rate for about one real week before disappearing.

This way any claim owner, who has troubles with logging in for over a week, still won't be in a situation when he comes online a week later to see his claim disappeared and all his property missing.
If claim owner forgets to pay the upkeep, he will see his LP growing without a reason, claim shinking, and he can re-invest those points into expanding the claim to it's previous size.

But any really abandoned claim will slowly disappear, leaving the area open for new settlers.

There should be an option for claim owner Kins to pay the upkeep of the claim if he cannot do that himself for some reason.
