Blacklist and ban people who are blatantly spamming to reach 500 posts? First a warning to stop making useless posts that contribute nothing, of course. And if they make many posts that do happen to have meaning, then it wouldn't be a problem. Just no "+1", "i agree", "lol", and "wats fastes way get 500 post" posts. Or you could just go with the join date/request system (or whatever else you see fit). Or even just straight up play favourites. I imagine most people with low post counts after having been around for a while wouldn't really care much about not being able to spam topic creation.

I think this would be a good idea, with some caveats..

1 - Post restriction is tied to time played, preferably on the order of 48-72 hours of play time (I was thinking a week, but that seems a bit harsh).
2 - Post restriction can be turned on or off by the forum mods. (IE - If someone starts posting irrelevant threads in the How do I, for instance.)
3 - If someone within post restriction posts anywhere, they get a warning "Please ensure the posts are relevant to the forum in which you're posting, or your rights to post may be revoked."
4 - Draconian enforcement of deleting threads irrelevant to the forum in which they're posted.

If the mods feel my posts are useless they can always tell me, and I would listen. unfortunately I'm not going to listen to someone who has the reputation of a being an ass.
