Uhh no. We don't have electricity, engines, advanced mechanics, or even petroleum for that matter. Using the materials already in game you can feasibly create a hot air balloon. Not a tank, or a plane, let alone an aircraft carrier.

Naw, lighter than air vehicles are much more realistic than guns and cannons for the game.

More seriously, read the Wikipedia article on ballooning (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_ballooning). Manned flights didn't start happening until the 1700s. And it appears that hydrogen was more commonly used than hot air. Plus the fuel source is propane or similar - which has almost 2x the energy density of charcoal.
