Remove, please. There isn't a single good slider in the lot.

Not even Nature/Industry or Barbarism/Civlization? Otherwise, I completely agree with the rest. Even the Martial/Peaceful and Death/Life sliders only get set in one direction even when you would think raiders would do differently.

There will be much rejoicing as well as gnashing of teeth when this is implemented.

I'll believe it when I see it.

A wise policy. :)

Change sliders to affect cosmetics etc as has been spoken of in many threads. Instead of completely removing them please. :)

Especially Nature/Industry sucks since it limits you to only being able to play certain aspects of the game. That is a wrong kind of limitation even if it was meant to support specialization and such that many are always asking for.

You've got a very solid point, burg, and (I'm assuming) is the same reason Potjeh (and others who have spoken elsewhere and not spoken up about it) is agreeing on removing PB altogether. However, if I recall some discussions correctly (wasn't here at the time, just from what I've read in archives) part of some of the changes to the game over time included getting away from one super strong character. Maybe I've misread those in that they were just referring to combat aspects.

If a single character could, in theory, do everything, the only limit would be any number of LP invested. For activities like farming, you're pretty much making a highly specialized character, anyway. With the current mining system, a lot of people are making mining alts just so they don't risk a skilled character dying to chance cave-ins or troll spawns. Creating specialized characters has always been the case in this game (at least since I started playing). It's just gotten out of hand with the curio system and pretty much nullifying the perma-death aspect of the game with multiple characters all eating up curios so if one dies, the game goes on without any real loss.

Don't get me wrong. I won't miss them at all if they do disappear. I played all of my time in w3 and w4 without even touching the two I mentioned (nat/ind, bar/civ). They did make life much easier when I decided to go the route of specializing for farming and mining as it then took a third less work to get the same results. My point was "hey, aren't these two at least useful?" Maybe instead of a slider, the incrementable skills could provide the same effect with a "Mining" skill added that had an effect on ore production.

I like the nature/industry slider. It's the only real choice one has to make that leads to specialization, and it still leaves many industries open.

LoftOrb, I have no idea how much work and how many sleepless nights this suggestion would create, but I would really like to see an expansion of two resources. First; Roads. Upkeep from carts and travel will require work, better materials, better roads, less damage to carts/travel weariness, as well as tolls, taxes, and a new means to fast travel. It'd give signposts a whole new meaning, and wars would be fought over who controls what roads, which would be pretty cool.

Also; Put the water to use. Docks, a greater fishing industry, naval warfare, VIKING LONGSHIPS! So much awesome could become of it.

Why cant you do one client per ip and one char per client?
I fully look forward to jorb and loftar fixing several mechanics and bringing back updates, because at that time you chuckleheads are going to be more marginalized than lawn furniture in winter.

I know that Jorb wants to get rid of it for the very reason I stated though :P

It doesn't make for a good choice anyway. Just make an alt as usual. Why can I not do both on my main then?
