Horses - major update?

Riding can just use the sitting animation. As for balancing, well, that's a whole different can of worms. The devs have a good track record when it comes to new feature balance, though.

I do admit that horses would be a lot of work, but they're not such a monumental task as you seem to suggest. The way you say it, it's like they'd be on par with the last map reset preparations.

Anyway, just what low hanging fruit is there that needs to be picked before horses are dealt with (because they have to be tackled eventually)? And interface is the wrong answer, because we both know it's not going to happen ;)

Horses don't actually need to be added, you move fast enough over land when unburdened and cows can be used to haul carts at faster speeds.
Horses themselves don't add anything unique to the game, it just adds a whole lot of unneeded things.

Carts need roads, horses don't. And walk speed may be fast enough for you, but I think it's waaaay to slow.

As for that list, half of it is UI work. UI work will never be top priority for Loftar, because pretty much every game dev hates doing UI. The other stuff, half of it is either unneeded (bridges, seriously?) or just plain sucks (boiling water). Most of the rest is improving village management, which I agree should be the number 1 priority.

ignoring a problem doesnt make them go away

the rest of the stuff was just me browsing the Ideas forum for a few minutes and adding a line for every suggestion more worthwhile than horses. and yea, keyrings would be one of them

horses are cool, but theyre also frivolous bullshit

You can't move a mountain no matter how well you prove it's badly placed, so why bother trying?

Anyway, the only non-UI thing on that list that I think is more worthwhile than horses (or even worthwhile at all) is "more village stuff". Animal taming and husbandry obviously excluded, because they're prerequisites for horses.

And seriously, how are horses any more frivolous than boats?

if you cannot figure it out already, after everything thats been said and done, then theres no point in attempting to explain it further

I haven't heard any convincing arguments. Horses add speed and carrying capacity, just like boats. I don't see how they're any different from land-based boats, apart from graphics. Boats themselves were also frequently talked about as unneeded bloat before their implementation, and yet nowadays everyone would be mad if they were to be taken out of the game.
