Haha, that last comment is rich. Although bear is raising a point here, I guess a city like...uhm lemme think....Wayneville might take advantage of such mechanics. The rustroot example is total bs though. The distribution of those is not dependent on areas but on skill and luck.

valdis was falling over the things and hes lower than entreri. skill and luck, true, but i think area has a lot to do with things. and i think the ones close to the rivers will do the best with their trading posts and the ones closest to the mines will have the higher/better militias. supply and demand and all that happy shtuff.

people would not stand for a "mafia" type village that monopolizes everything, they would band together to destroy the aristocracy, like what has happened countless times in real history. its actually easier than in real cuz you aren't risking your actual life to do it.

I personally like bothe ways of trading, the trading post and the caravan. i don't think that the global trading station would be a good idea, but the regional (1 supergrid) trading would be a good idea. that would make long distance trading still be difficult and not as easy to play like a fiddle

its gonna happen whether people wont it to or not. real life spills over into gaming whether you want it to or not. somebody will get enough characters or enough friends together and there will be a monopoly with all its ugly dressing in at least one area. its the nature of the beast. someone always gets greedy and is smart enough to figure out how to get the most with the least effort. and that usually involves thievery. of one form or the other. there will be trading of one sort of the other. and i hope its organized and understandable. i also hope its not alont the lines of a bone and a rat left in trade when someone raids your fishing camp.

You didn't really think this shit through did yeah? People would not stand lol people can stand a lot of shit and when it's more than they consider fun in a game they QUIT 9 out of 10 cases. People would band together and that will help them a whole bunch when if they are noobs that can be killed by the experienced fellows one by one. And it's easier than in real life hahaha see in real life you have to live with the world around you no matter what and when it becomes unbearable you don't get to chose another world to play in you either do something about it suck it up or RAEG quit life.

i think that as long as you keep your trading post and caravan well-defended we'll be alright, most thieves are greedy and don't work w/ other thieves well. plus as long as everyone trades, nobody can control the market. end of story. they would need to be insanely rich, which is pointless, why are they still playing if they can't do anything but rip people off?

EDIT: why would a noob try?

because they get a kick out of ripping people off. how else do you explain trespassers who destroy a bed---while you are in it?
